Beetroot 'Boltardy' doesn;t run to seed, riing the crop, when it comes under stress. It can be sown from early in the season March, until late July. This is advantageous in that you get three crops from your paxck of seeds and from June to October can be eating delicious young leaves for salad, sweet baby beetroot and mature larger beetroots in autumn. It is a popular sweet, round purple/red beetroot, which delivers just as well whether eaten raw, grated in a salad or cooked and roasted.

Sow on a window sill, in a greenhouse from Mar-July on the surface of a good seed compost, firm down and keep compost damp but not too wet. Transplant seedlings into 9cm.pots when a good root ball is established plant in your border at approx. 20-30cm apart after all danger of frost has passed.

If planting direct into soil outside, wait until after the last frosts and sow in final growing spot from mid May.

Average packet contents 250 seeds

When planted out happiest in free-draining soil in sunny positions.
