Broad bean De Monica can be planted in autumn for an even earlier start to the homegrown veg season than planting De Monica, tender broad beans will be on your plate from April - June. You can sit back and look forward to those early beans knowing the diggings' all done.

Theres nothing like picking those delicious broad beans for dinner! and Broad Bean 'De Monica' is the earliest maturing broad bean variety from a spring sowing, which you will be picking from April -July. Abundant crops of 15cm pods with 4-5 large beans per pod will be ready to harvest at the same time as winter sown variety 'Aquadulce'. An exciting new, tall broad bean variety reaching some 120cm in height.

Sow on a window sill, in a greenhouse or direct into the soil at from Feb-Mar or Oct-Dec on the surface of a good seed compost, firm down and keep compost damp but not too wet. If grown in the greenhouse transplant seedlings into 9cm.pots when a good root ball is established plant in your border at approx. 40-50cm apart after all danger of frost has passed.

Average packet contents 60 seeds.

When planted out happiest in free-draining soil in sunny positions.
