Climbing French bean 'Blue Lake' has been around since 1885, a long time - some one hundred and thirty one years - but whats' so desirable to be worthy of this unbeaten track record? One of the best climbing French beans, its a classic choice for early beans of the highest quality. So, where do I begin - its prolific crops, which go on from late June - November, delicious stringless, tender, tasty green beans which taste just as good whether picked young or more mature, the beans can also be used for drying, its ability to withstand poor weather including drought, and still produce a good crop of sugar sweet, tender beans when cooked and thats just the beans! It climbs so well it makes a great decorative yet, productive garden screen studded with white flowers.
