After a hard day digging, it is important that you clean your spade. With just a wire brush like this, give it a clean off. All that dried soil gone and that is great.

But one step better than that is to get yourself a bucket of sand and some old engine oil. Add just a few drops in like that. Then chop your spade in there. And that will stop any metal from rusting, keeping it nice and clean while you hang it in your shed, and that is ready for action the next time you need it..
