Superb for covering large areas quickly and capable of producing some of the best autumn colour ever - Monty Don loves it and planted this one recently to cover his shed on BBC Gardeners’ World. It’s a beast - that’s the plant and not Monty - growing to around 12m high and wide but check out the autumn colour in a few weeks time. Stunning.

Make a feature out of a bare wall or fence using Parthenocissus henryana, a vigorous, attractive climbing plant grown for its colour-changing foliage.

This climber features intricate leaf markings of dark bronze with pink-white vein markings. In autumn, the encore is a blanket of bright orange and red, followed by blue and black berries, creating a garden feature in its own right.

This large leaved variety thrives in shade. It will reach a height up to 2m in the first 3 years and, if left unpruned, will reach approximately 9m with a spread of 4-8m.
