Solanum laxum 'Album' does not, as the name implies, produce potatoes. It is so named due to its 'potato like' flowers. An attractive, semi evergreen climber producing clusters of pure white flowers with a yellow beak-like centre. It is the only hardy member of the potato family and unlike bush potatoes has a vertical growth habit. With the support of wires or trellis to climb, it makes a somewhat unkempt looking plant, but this is superceded by its striking display of flowers, covering the plant from base to top.

Eventual height 2-6m and spread 1-1.5m in 5-10years.

Pruning requirements - hands need to be protected with gloves when pruning, remove overcrowded and browned shoots. It can be cut hard back and will regenerate from old wood.
